A Note From The Artistic Directors
This fall, we’re very excited to be launching Theatre Direct/Showtix’s new Broadway Classroom! We say “new” because we’re building on two tried-and-true educational programs: Broadway Classroom from Theatre Direct and Behind the Scenes Broadway, the educational workshop series previously offered from Showtix Group Sales. Combining the two programs creates a truly comprehensive experience, with more educational opportunities and an overall level of quality unmatched in the industry.
The goal of our program is to inspire. We’ll bring the performing arts to life for your students -- not only during the workshop, but back in the students’ daily lives. In each workshop, students interact with real working Broadway professionals who are not only passionate about theatre, but passionate about kids, too. They’ll challenge your students while focusing on the three central tenets of theatre: creativity, confidence and collaboration.
We’ll customize each workshop to meet your goals and the group’s abilities. Your students will have an opportunity to sing with a Broadway performer, practice with a pit musician, or take direction from a real Broadway director. And that’s just the beginning.
Workshops are not only for students involved in or pursuing careers in the performing arts, but also for those who are being exposed to the arts for the first time. Whether it’s a drama class, marching band or science class, every group is welcome!
In this Broadway Classroom Educational Handbook, we’re introducing brand new workshops that are curriculum-based or show-specific including stage makeup, improvisation, song and movement, the business of the business and our newest workshop: Show Choir Masterclass.
